How to remove yourself from Spokeo
Spokeo is a people-search site. Its own opt-out page says it aggregates publicly available information from third-party sources. Removing your listing is free and takes a few minutes, but Spokeo says it can take 24-48 hours to process, and you may have more than one listing.

What Spokeo asks for

Step-by-step: remove yourself from Spokeo
- Open a private/incognito browser window and search for your name on spokeo.com. Open the listing that is you and copy the full address from your browser's address bar. It looks like https://www.spokeo.com/Smith-Sample/Houston/TX/p12345678 (that is Spokeo's own example format).
- Go to Spokeo's official opt-out page (link below) and paste that URL into the URL box. If you only see a payment/checkout page for your listing, Spokeo's page also accepts a 'payment URL' that starts with https://www.spokeo.com/purchase?q=...
- Enter an email address in the Email box. Spokeo says it will send a confirmation email and you must click the link in it to finish. Consider an address you can open right away.
- Open the confirmation email and click the link. Without this click the request is not complete.
- Wait. Spokeo says opt-out requests should be processed in 24-48 hours. Then search your name again in a private window.
- Repeat for every listing. Spokeo states you may have multiple listings, each with its own unique URL, and each must be opted out individually.
What this will not do
- Opting out removes your listing from Spokeo only. Spokeo says it does not remove the data from its original source, so your information may still appear on other websites.
- Each separate listing needs its own opt-out.
If something goes wrong
Spokeo's page says you can contact customer care through the help link on that page, or email privacy@spokeo.com.
